Wildflower Walks

Marion Lobstein Wildflower Walks and Activities

Marion Lobstein will be leading a number of volunteer wildflower walks open to interested participants that will be led by Marion Lobstein are on the following dates:   Great Falls Park, VA at 10:00am-12:30pm on the following dates (third Sundays) during the late winter/spring months:  March 18, April 15, and May 18 as well as similar dates during the summer and early fall months.   Marion will also be leading a walk at Balls Bluff on April 15 from 2:30-4:30pm.  On May 5 she will lead a walk at Great Falls Park for VNPS.  She will conduct a number of Smithsonian Associates programs this spring:  U.S. Botanic Garden on Feb. 8 and 10 and the U.S. National Arboretum on April 22 and 27.   Check for details on times and registration.  There will be several programs she will conduct at Blandy Experimental Farm in March and in April.  Please contact Marion Lobstein at (703) 536-7150 or email for reservations to participate in these wildflower walks.  Also check her website at

                 The South Hampton Roads Chapter is sponsoring Marion speaking at the Tidewater Flower and Garden Show.  On Feb. 17 and 18 she will give a presentation entitled Dream Plants the Jamestown Settlers Found” to discuss the variety of native plants our early settlers came in contact with at Jamestown in 1607.  These 400 years of botanical heritage in Virginia for shows the need for a modern Flora of Virginia.  The Chapter is generously contributing to the Flora of Virginia Project as her honorarium.  Marion will give similar presentations at the Virginia Academy of Science meeting when she will deliver the Jeffers lecture on May 24 and at the Virginia Association of Science Teachers annual meeting on November 10, 2007.
